Marks and Spencer (also known as M&S;known as Marks and Sparks) is a major British multinational retailer headquartered in the City of Westminster, London. It specialists in the selling of clothing, home products and luxury food products. M&S was founded in 1884 by Michael Marks and Thomas Spencer in Leeds.
In 1984 Micheal Marks opened a market stall in Leeds, with the slogan ''don't ask the price, its a penny".
And in 1994 Marks went into partnership with Thomas Spencer, a former cashier from the wholesales company,Dewhirst
